Welcome to Japanese in Year 2. This is an exciting stage of learning as many students already know basic greetings, a simple self introduction and some questions. We can therefore build on the language we have learnt in previous terms/years by adding important conversational phrases and more Q&A. If you are new to Japanese however, don't worry, as it will not take long to catch up.
In Term 1 the topic of study is Pets, including naming animals and describing them. This means we will be looking at colours and adjectives. The main focus in Term 2 is 'My busy day', looking at what we do during a typical day. Then in Term 3 there will be short conversations in the form of Q&A and also a self-introduction. This will be presented as a dialogue between a teacher and the class. We will also continue to learn the 'hiragana' script. Much will be presented through songs, in videos and during in-class conversation practice. Added to this will be cultural aspects about daily life in Japan.
