Welcome to Japanese in Year 3. This is an exciting stage of learning as most students already know basic greetings, a simple self introduction and some questions. We can therefore build on the language we have learnt in previous terms/years by adding important conversational phrases and more Q&A. The main focus in Term One at the start of the year is 'All About Me', with a special focus on numbers, such as ages, birthdays and calendars. Then in Term Two Japanese food and drinks, restaurants, and likes& dislikes will be studied. Yum! In Term Three we will look at the National Anthem of Japan, and also discover some gestures and body language differences. In Term Four we will explore the wonderful world of the Transport Otaku (cars. planes, bikes etc). We will also practice and perform short skits in Japanese. Throughout the year we will continue to learn the 'hiragana' script. Much will be presented through songs, in videos and during in-class conversation practice. Added to this will be cultural aspects about daily life in Japan.
